Giro geeft ploeg Rebellin wildcard

De Giro heeft wildcards gegeven aan de ploegen Androni Giocattoli, Bardiani-CSF, CCC-Sprandi Polkowice, Nippo - Vini Fantini en Southeast Pro Cycling Team. Dat betekent dat oud-dopingzondaars als Davide Rebellin en Stefan Schumacher (CCC) niets in de weg staat om weer deel te namen aan de Ronde van Italië. Nippo-Vini Fantini is de nieuwe ploeg van ex-Girowinnaar Damiano Cunego. Southeast Pro Cycling Team (het voormalige Neri Sottoli-Yellow Fluo) krijgt een wildcard omdat ze in 2014 de Italiaanse cup wonnen.
